Dr. Astrid grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where her love of animals started at an early age. She knew she wanted to become a veterinarian after volunteering every summer at her pets’ veterinary clinic and working with a board-certified veterinary surgeon.
Dr. Astrid completed her undergraduate studies in Mayaguez, PR and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2009 from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. She performed two additional years of internship training in Missouri and Illinois. She then returned to LSU for her small animal medical oncology residency. Dr. Astrid became Board Certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in the specialty of Medical Oncology in 2014.
Dr. Blake and Dr. Astrid met at LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. They are the proud parents of one son and two daughters. Dr. Astrid enjoys traveling, and when she has some free ‘me’ time, she likes reading and shopping.
