Born and raised in Morgan City, Louisiana as the daughter of a shrimp boat captain, Dr. Buffy grew up learning all about shrimping and the commercial fishing industry. She participated in Future Farmers of America (FFA) events such as speech competition and livestock judging. Dr. Buffy gives credit to the FFA for cultivating her love of animals and agriculture.
After graduating as valedictorian of the Assumption High School Class of 2012, Dr. Buffy pursued higher education and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a concentration in Dairy Production from Louisiana State University. She went on to attend veterinary school at Ross University in St. Kitts, an island that she considers as her “second home.” Dr. Buffy completed her clinical year at Auburn University, graduating in 2020.
Dr. Buffy is passionate about internal medicine, behavior medicine, and surgery. Her favorite part of her job is reuniting pets with their owners after a hospital stay. The reunion is always so joyful!
When not working, Dr. Buffy loves to spend time with her family, husband Austin and daughter, Charlotte.
